Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program

Juvenile justice alternative education program (JJAEP) was first established in Texas in 1995. This school helps expelled students to receive proper education by providing education system that teach them discipline, academic, and behavior management. Officially formed by legislature, this program has mandate to concern on the safety and effective classroom by taking away troublemaker students and dangerous students who may disturb the study process.

Local county juvenile can make JJAEP if the population is more than 125,000 based on newest census. For the founding, it is taken from the county tax revenues which are different with public school. Students in this alternative education can be entered into any grade based on what their grade before expelled. They study core curriculum and also self-discipline. Their time of study per day is 7 hours for 180 days a year.

Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program

The population of JJAEP can be classified into two categories: expelled students and non-expelled students or we can call as others. Expelled students usually do serious criminal such as murder, aggravated robbery or kidnapped, and many more. And for other students, they are recommended by juvenile court because of particular reasons. If they have completed their probation, they can return to their home school.
